MedTEST
MedTEST provides advanced test functionality while increasing efficiency to medical device manufacturers. It allows medical device manufacturers to easily test to common medical electrical safety specifications such as UL206-1, UL60601-1, IEC601-1, IEC60601-1, EN60601-1 and more. It performs patient lead testing on medical devices and also includes a continuous run feature. This feature can offer significant time savings and improve testing efficiency depending on the application as a Device Under Test (DUT) does not need to be powered down and up to perform the multiple leakage tests, even in reverse polarity conditions.
Ethernet Communication card
The Ethernet communication card allows customers to remotely set up and execute tests and retrieve data just as our RS-232 and GPIB interfaces. The main advantage is that it allows for remote access of an instrument from one PC with a network connection. It also provides for barcode scanning locally, when attached directly to the instrument as well as barcode scanning remotely, when attached directly to the PC. There is also an active RS-232 serial port on the interface card. This card is available as an option on OMNIA and HypotULTRA III.
AC1000 New Companion Power Source to OMNIA
The AC1000, 1kVA power source, works seamlessly
with the OMNIA series to provide an easy-to-control test system. It is a
powerful solution for Line Leakage testing applications requiring an isolation
transformer adjustable to 110% of line voltages.
With an easy-to-use interface and a host of remote control options, the AC1000
combined with an OMNIA 8100 series electrical safety compliance analyzer provides
customers with a versatile and efficient testing system for performing multiple
electrical safety tests.
Data Storage card
We are now offering a Data Storage card for the OMNIA and the
HypotULTRA III series of electrical safety testers. The card features one serial port where
a user can select either RS-232 or RS-485 communication. Also included is one data collection
port that works directly with a 256 MB flash memory stick.
Modular Scanning Matrix
Using an Associated Research, Inc SC6540 Modular Scanning
Matrix can help to simplify your safety testing routine and allow you to test more
efficiently. The SC6540’s modular design makes it a powerful tool for use in a wide
variety of applications including multi-point Hipot, Ground Continuity, Ground Bond,
and Insulation Resistance tests. However, due to the multiple models offered it is
imperative that each Scanner be configured and addressed correctly in order to ensure
a properly functioning test system.
The Hot Hipot Test
In an industry comprised of workers with varying
electronics knowledge, a Hipot test can seem a daunting task for some. Indeed,
many test operators and quality assurance supervisors, having never been trained
in electrical engineering, have difficulty understanding the principles and setup
of the test itself. Naturally, the mere mention of the more specific Hot Hipot test
can bring about feelings of apprehension. Yet the concepts involved with the Hot Hipot
test don’t have to be entirely elusive to operator and engineer alike. In fact, with
a basic understanding of a Hipot test setup it is relatively easy to understand,
implement, and perform a Hot Hipot test.
Continuity and Hipot Testing
Manufacturers of heating elements, cable harnesses, and aerospace cables must commonly perform point to point continuity tests and hipot tests as part of their routine production line tests. The linking of a continuity test and hipot test when voltages exceed 1000 volts has previously only been available through custom test systems. Associated Research understood that some customers required a bench top style solution. To address this, a new 2000 Ohm continuity range was added to the HypotULTRA III. This enables point to point continuity tests and hipot tests at voltages up to 5,000 volts to be performed.
SmartGFI®
The patented SmartGFI is a fast-acting
high voltage shut down safety circuit that was designed to
provide maximum operator protection. If the SmartGFI safety
circuit detects excessive leakage to ground it shuts down
the high voltage in less than 1 millisecond. However, in order
for a GFI system to work in safety testing applications the
return circuit of the device under test (DUT) must not be
connected to ground. If a conventional GFI is used on a DUT
that requires the return to be grounded then the GFI circuit
has to be manually disabled. An exclusive feature of SmartGFI
is that it automatically detects the condition of the return
lead circuit. SmartGFI, by monitoring the return configuration
of the DUT, has the unique capability to enable or disable
it's GFI circuitry accordingly. Therefore the operator is
completely eliminated from the process. This makes SmartGFI
a true safety feature that operates without any need for user
interaction.
User Interface
The key to new technology is finding
a way for that technology to really provide a benefit to customers.
With the addition of an enhanced graphic LCD, AR was able
to dramatically improve the ease of use of our instruments.
An operator can now set up test parameters and view test results
with greater ease. A graphic LCD allowed also AR to add several
features that are not possible with older analog or 2 line
LCD's. One such feature is the prompt function. The prompt
function allows an operator to configure messages that will
appear during the test cycle. This is a very useful feature
for applications where test leads or probes need to be moved
or when device under test (DUT) switches need to be activated
as part of a test cycle. Another such feature is the CAL-ALERT®
feature. CAL-ALERT is a warning message that displays when
an instrument is due for re-calibration. CAL-ALERT eliminates
the need of manually tracking calibration dates. For over
65 years AR has always led the pack in developing technology
to help make our instruments safer and easier to use.
Verification System
Verification of failure detect circuitry
of the electrical safety tester is required by safety agencies
such as CSA, UL, TÜV and others to validate that the
instrument is performing and functioning correctly. VERI-CHEK®,
AR's built-in verification allows a customer to easily and
quickly validate an instrument's performance. VERI-CHEK
is an industry first and is available as a standard feature
on our new Hypot® III, HYAMP®
III, HypotULTRA® III and OMNIA® product lines
at no additional cost. VERI-CHEK can be enacted
each time an instrument is powered up. The instrument then
begins to display a series of user-friendly prompts, which
guide the user through the required steps. Detailed verification
results are displayed upon completion. Functions that can
be verified include AC Hipot, DC Hipot, Ground Continuity,
Ground Bond and Insulation Resistance.
