Multi-function Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers Receive UL Safety Agency Listing
Lake Forest, Illinois, July, 2005 - Announced today by Associated Research, Inc. is the C-UL-US listing mark on their OMNIA® 8100 Series of Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers. Underwriter's Laboratories (UL), an independent not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization, is one of the most recognized safety agencies in the world. The UL listing number that the OMNIA Series has received is E20461. The listing mark indicates that the OMNIA series has been tested to and passed all the specifications called out in UL 61010B-1. The combined Canada/U.S. mark complies with regulations for both countries.
UL listing provides assurance to manufacturers that the fundamental design of the 8100 Series is safe for normal operator use. UL is also a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) therefore the UL listing also provides compliance to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards of the U.S. Department of Labor. The OMNIA series also carries the TÜV-GS international safety mark.
OMNIA models include 4-in-1, 5-in-1, and 6-in-1 Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers that feature an enhanced graphic LCD. The base model, OMNIA 4, model 8104 contains the 4 most commonly required electrical safety tests including AC Hipot, DC Hipot, Ground Bond/Continuity and Insulation Resistance. The OMNIA 5, model 8105 adds Functional Run testing to the base model and OMNIA 6, model 8106 adds Functional Run and Line Leakage testing to the base model. The new OMNIA series features extended Ground Bond test current up to 40 Amps. This provides test current that satisfies safety agency requirements for revisions made to both the CSA-C22.2 NO. 60950-1-03 and the UL 60950-1 standards for information technology equipment. The OMNIA 6, model 8106 features an extended Line Leakage test mode. It incorporates 7 different measuring device configurations to simulate the human body impedance models for a variety of specifications. Leakage measurements can be either, true RMS or PEAK as required by IEC 60990 for measuring touch currents. In addition, leakage limits may be programmed into the instrument for automated measurements for both normal and single fault conditions. The OMNIA, 8106 can perform Earth Leakage, Enclosure Leakage, and Applied Part Leakage as well as touch current measurements.
Advanced features of the OMNIA series include a patented user interface, the patented SmartGFI® safety circuit, the patented CAL-ALERT® feature, and the patented VERI-CHEK® feature, 50 memories with 30 steps per memory, built-in real current, and the patented RAMP HI and CHARGE LO features. OMNIA comes complete with either RS-232 or GPIB automation interfaces and is available with Autoware® control software as well as optional scanning matrixes.
